White Students Leaving The School Due To The 9 Teenagers
In 1957, nine black students attended an all once white school, they were renamed Little Rock 9.The Crisis all started when Arkansas Governer Orval Faubus;He prevented the 9 from entering the racially segregated school. Orval attended an intervention, which was thought to be the most important day that took place during the Civil Rights Movement. President Eisenhower was also there. For Little Rock 9, There first day was not at all fun. It consisted of them being followed by mobs of people throwing out threats then arriving at the doors and being denied by the gaurds of the school. Then the U.S. Supreme Court met on may 17th, 1954 passed laws to desegregate segregated schools all over the nation. Once this took place, the NAACP (national association for advancment of colored people) registered 9 black students in Little Rock Central High. The Little Rock 9 were Ernest Green,Elizabeth Eckord,Jefferson Thomas,Terrance Robers, Carlotte Walls Lakier, Minnijean Brown, Gloria Kalmark,Theime Mothershed and Melba Beals.
